Produce in 1 DVD and in each have the story about the way of hilltribe living, the culture and the tradition of 4 tribes that set up in Huay MaeSai community , Mueng district, Chiangrai Province, Thailand. In the village have 4 tribes: Akha , Lahu , Mien , Karen. the film introduced a short information in each tribe.

The Process to receive the DVD documentary

The money order is 80 baht for sending.

The Swinging Tradition of the Akha
After the planting season, the a Akha celebrate and give thanks to the women of the village who are the main contributors to the crops. The swinging tradition is a tradition for the women of the village.

Yo-ma The Religious and Cultural leader of the Akha
Yo-ma is the religious leader of the village and the keeper of traditions. The position of the Yo-ma is one that is hard to achieve. One must first prove themselves to be worthy of the position.



Ya-Saw The Ordaining Ceremony for Pure Merit From the knowledge of the old Apha village members we know that this ceremony is given to a child by his father and mother who believe that if a child is given this ceremony, they will receive merit that is pure.

The Apha village
This village is called the Apha village and was named after the first people that settled in the mountain. In this village, you can experience a way of life that is influenced by old beliefs and customs, a way of life that is disappearing from other villages.

The Tradition of the New Years Red Egg
After the harvesting season, the Akha have ceremonies to leave the old year and welcome the New Year. This time of year is symbolic of the births and deaths of all living things on earth.

The Ghost Gate of the Akha
The Gate of the village is of religious importance to the people in the Akha village.The Akha believe that the Gate protects the village from the evils spirits and sickness and protects the people in the village. The Building of the village is also used to tell the age of the village. The gate is also used for one ceremony in the year.


The YaFu village
In the deep ends of the forest, away from the city, lie the peaceful villages of the hill tribes. In this environment, living things are connected to each other in the wheel of life and connected with nature from generation to generation.




Tobo
A religious leader in Lahu village. A Tabo has a role making ceremonies, protecting villagers from danger and helping them to live together in happiness. Following the ancient beliefs for establishing the village.

The Huay Mae Sai Village
The village set up in Mueng district, Chiangrai province. Have many village locate around their in Huay MaeSai community. The village in HuayMaeSai was born by separate from the original village and depending on the social and the rule.

The Jalae Village
The Ja-Lae village is a village in the Huay Mae Sai District which is the birthplace of the Huay Mae Sai waterfall. The people in the Ja-Lae village are of the Lahu live their lives in tradition and ancestry. They believe in the spirits of nature and see that if one respects nature, one will be protected. If one does not respect nature there will be negative repercussions


A Son’s Ordaining Ceremony – The Mien Tribe
If a son is ordained, in his next life, he will be reborn as a boy again. The culture and traditions of the hill tribe people are being taken over by the influence of the cultures from the cities erasing the hill tribe culture little by little.

The Fabric Designs of the Mien
The stitching of the Mien is considered among other tribes as unique and beautiful. It is also incredible that the designs that fabrics are not on the side of the fabric that is being stitched.

Dyeing natural threads for weaving has been a tradition of the Karen otherwise known as the Pakakyaw passed on from generation to generation. Knowledge of natural dyes is something that they have a lot of knowledge about. The colors of the natural dyes is what is most appealing about their fabrics
 

The Paka-Ka Yaw and Elephants
Elephants, historically important in Thai history, can now be seen in the cities, far away from their natural environment. They can however, also be seen closer to their natural environment in the forest with the hill tribe called the Paka-Kayaw. Their relationship with the elephants is one of love and trust.
